We regret we have to inform you that our best friend, wife, mother, and grandmother, Susan Lee Smith, passed away on September 22, 2018, due to complications following heart surgery. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.

Sue was born on December 30, 1951, in Hill Air Force Base to Ben and Doris McComb. A few years after graduating from Clearfield High School, she married Kim Smith on December 16, 1971. In 1991 she graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Physical Education. She taught dance at Layton High School until 2000 when she retired to help raise her grandchildren.

Susan was an incredibly intelligent woman who seemed to know something about everything. Growing up, her siblings always knew where to go to when they had a question they needed an answer for. Susan was a very strong and determined woman who passed both her intelligence and her strong will on to her children. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her husband, Kim; son, Josh (Cari) Smith; daughters, Amanda (Richard) Hoonakker and Josie (James White) Grass; her nine grandchildren; her mother, Doris; and her loving brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank all of those who provided the excellent care she received while at the McKay Dee Hospital ICU.

A Celebration of Susan’s Life will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at, Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT in the Atrium Room.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Primary Children’s Hospital

i'm so sad to hear about Sue.  She was so pretty with a great smile and personality.  She is the only reason I passed Geometry in Mr Hill's class.  My condolences to Kim and family   Even though we lost track of one another over the years, I will greatly miss her.
