Charles, (Chuck) Balcher

Very popular. Happy to have known him. Very self-confident. I remember seeing him in the halls, at Roosevelt. He was one who could give Jack T., a run for his money, at basketball.

Mike was my best friend in high school. He was a great athlete. Mike was friendly to everyone - a truly inclusive person. The last time I saw him was in the summer of 1970. He, one of the Grotts and myself went to the Art Museum for a program. We met some people there and all ended up at the back of the Mather Mansion in Bratenahl. Mike with one or two others went skinny dipping in Lake Erie. I didn't because I was afraid of getting a fish hook in my foot. It was all very Age of Aquarius.

Mike and Harvey spent many hours at my house playing board games. He was always fun to be around. When I think of him, I just remember the many sides of him.He was a very complicated person but always caring with me.

I remember Mike so well, and especially at this time of his life.  He died the previous summer/fall, I believe. His bicycle was found near by the skeleton.   This is from the Plain Dealer Tuesday March 4, 1975, p 5-A.
