I remember having fun conversations with Lynn. We would joke about something being "undoubtedly such and such", or "indubitably so", or "without a doubt ...", or "irrefutably ...". I don't know how we got started with our synonyms, but we just went on and on with them and had fun throughout high school with them. He was a nice, fun kid.
I knew Lynn for a while after High School, when we were both briefly in the same college. He had an incisive wit and intelligence, and a kind of theatricality that seemed to be basic to his personality. He was generous and kind and I wish I had tried to stay in touch.
We came up through Oxford Elementary together. I remember one homework assignment (maybe at Monticello) that he wasn't prepared to turn in and when it came his turn he told the teacher his baby brother ate it. She said okay - even though those of us that knew him knew that he was an only child!
I remember Lynn best from the summer trip we shared to study in France and travel elsewhere in Europe--I know there are some others in the class of '69 who were part of that. Lynn had a bright mind and quick wit. I always got a kick out of his approach--umbrella in hand--and remark, "Mrs. Peele, we're needed." (The Avengers) He made me laugh, which wasn't an easy thing for me to do in high school.
