I really didn 't know "Birdie"at all in school ,but my memories where very few, she was my husbands first cousin and then i really got to know her for a very short time, when I got married , she was engaged and supposed to be married and never got the opportunity.
I ran into Roberta quite unexpectedly at my cousin's Chasidic wedding in New York about 25 years ago. I can still picture her in a black dress and turban. We had a nice visit. I was sorry to hear that her life ended so early. I believe that she had a very strong religious belief and I like to think her spirit is at peace.
I noted years ago that she has passed. I didn't really know her but remember noticing that she seemed alone and sad. Of course I can't know for sure that she was, but if I hadn't been struggling so much myself I like to think I would have had it in me to spend time with people who seemed to need kind friends.
