Bruce Alan Melamed, 62, of Harrisburg, PA passed away at his home on September 10, 2014 with his beloved wife Cindy and daughter Mara by his side. Bruce was born on December 29, 1951 In Cleveland, OH to the late Samuel & Sylvia (Gordon) Melamed. He was a hard worker who loved his job in financial services management for the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund.
Bruce loved the Cleveland sports teams and was a huge fan of the Ohio State University Buckeyes. He also enjoyed watching 3 Stooges episodes and the music of The Beatles.
Bruce loved his family above all else and sacrificed greatly for his three children. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him and by those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents Bruce is preceded in death by his brother Harvey Melamed, his cousin Frederick Melamed and his dogs Suzi and Buddy.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia (Wilder) Melamed, his 2 sons: Ryan Lee Melamed (Karen) and Sean David Melamed both of San Diego, CA; his daughter Mara Beth Melamed of Chicago, IL; his brother Lawrence Melamed (Esther) of Kent, OH; his sister Elaine Sims (Robert) of Ann Arbor, MI and his 2 granddaughters: Lucy Abigail and Sierra Alexis Melamed both of San Diego, CA.
Funeral services will be held at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home on Friday, September 12, 2014 at 3pm. A visitation will be held from 2-3pm prior. Rabbi Carl Choper will officiate. Burial will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Donations be made in Bruce's name to the American Cancer Society , specifically for Sarcoma Research at 2 Lemoyne Drive, Suite 101, Lemoyne, PA 17043 or to either the Humane Society of the Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or to the York SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Kay and Jim and the staff at Homeland Hospice for the exceptional care and attention given to Bruce.
