David Joel Polster, who worked as a commodities broker in Boston and in business financial services at Merrill Lynch, died May 18 in San Diego. He was 59. At the time of his retirement, he was a financial officer at United Bank of Switzerland (UBS).
A graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, Mr. Polster earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, and he remained a fan of OSU sports throughout his life. He closely followed Israeli affairs.
Mr. Polster is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rebecca; sons Jacob, Zachary and Ethan of San Diego; daughter Hannah of San Diego; mother Margie Polster; brothers Howard of Tucson, Ariz., and Richard; and sisters Marilyn Katzel of Mendocino, Calif., and Carolyn Bayer.
