Suzy lived life on her own terms and loved being surrounded by friends and family along the way.

The Zipkin house was a revolving door of visitors who dropped by throughout the day to schmooze. Suzy’s friends viewed her as a sister and always trusted her advice. In turn, Suzy never missed a chance to be part of a simcha, and she was so dedicated to celebrating her friends’ and family members’ weddings that she even crashed a few.

Even amid her generosity with others, Suzy took her own leisure time seriously. An examination of her passport would reveal trips to every corner of the world, from Russia and China to Israel, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Galapagos. She loved vacationing with friends and family, but if none were available, she had no qualms about traveling solo. At home, she spent her free time attending plays, visiting the Zoo, listening to the Reds on the radio, and becoming an aspiring JCC chess master.

Suzy’s later turn as a part-time babysitter for her grandkids eventually cut into these activities, but she didn’t mind (much). She routinely honed in the most interesting events in town—museum exhibits, sunflower festivals, concerts—and was always looking for kids and grandkids to take with her.

Suzy never stopped being generous with her time, even becoming one of Rockwern Academy’s most dedicated volunteers as her grandkids grew.

Suzy will be missed sorely by her children, grandchildren, cousins, friends, and granddog Wes.
