      AVA L. CASSIRER Obituary
Age 66, born June 5,1951, passed away March 2, 2018. Ava is survived by her mother, Beverly Cassirer; brother, David Cassirer; and her special niece, Dana Kleinman. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Cassirer. We are celebrating Ava's life and keeping her memory alive through her favorite passions, oft-heard quotes and songs, and unusual pursuits. As a small child, Ava was known to be sweet and kind. As an adolescent, Ava was known to be an excellent-even going towards becoming an Olympian-tennis player. NO ONE could hit her "special serve". As an adult, Ava pursued her passion of helping people by becoming a social worker as well as working with antiques and art works. These two endeavors are where she found her happiness. Ava was known to help a friend before meeting her own needs. This is not what made her unique! It made her Ava! Ava had a love for music, as well. She could be heard singing in that wonderful and full voice of hers, when happy or sad. Ava started a foundation for burn victims. She was one and so understood all the pain and suffering this can cause a person. Ava had a BIG extended family which will miss her greatly. She made a difference in the lives of others through her profession as a social worker for Cuyahoga County as well as her own set of friends, which were many. Everyone said she had a heart of gold even though her mannerisms were cranky at times. Thankfully, she was understood and loved by her business partners, Trina Miller and Bill Jeffries, and her family, where she could be herself and shine. She was one of a kind!!! Special thanks to Jane Brodnek and Sabra Sonewald and the staff of Ohio Living for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Ava to Ohio Living-Breckenridge Village, 36855 Ridge Rd., Willoughby, OH 44094. Funeral Service Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. At the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD) where the family will receive friends FROM 10:00 A.M. Ava's backyard and my backyard connected in University Heights. Ava and her brother David would cut through our backyard to get to Heights and back home everyday and my father would always catch them. My first band experience was with David in the late 60s but I did not become friends with Ava until the late 90s. She came to hear our band play at Rick's Cafe in Chagrin Falls and we reconnected. I would spend many days at her home working with her on several projects. Ava always had several projects that she was working on and being very successful in doing so right from the comforts of home. It was great getting to know her better and hearing some of her stories from our younger years. I miss the fellowship we shared.
