Raymond Lee Dempsey (1950 - 2012)

Raymond Lee Dempsey, 62, a Lake County area resident for over 30 years and moved to Ohio at the age of two, died Dec. 9, 2012, at his home in Painesville Township. He was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Page, W.Va. Mr. Dempsey was an avid outdoorsman, but most of all he was a devoted and doting husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a wise man, being self-educated on many things. He was a very successful, self-employed businessman. To know him was to love him. He is survived by his wife of more than 43 years, Ruth (Jenkins); sons, Dennis Raymond Dempsey and Douglas Raymond Dempsey; daughter, Heather Lynn (Raymond) LaManna; grandchildren, Rachel Dempsey, Shannon Dempsey, Alex Dempsey, Alaina LaManna, Maren Dempsey, Sonny LaManna, Bruno LaManna and Simone LaManna; mother, Patsy "Patty" Dempsey; brother, Steve Dempsey; sister, Fran Nightengale; as well as his beloved dogs, Rocky and Phoebe and granddog, Ruby. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Kupps.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave. (opposite Lake Erie College), Painesville. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. Gerald Matzke officiated. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family for their choice of charities.
