Nick was in the Marines and died on a training mission.  He made it to our last big reunion, and he looked wonderful.  He was a shy, sweet guy - from grade school on.

NICK WAS A VERY INTELLIGENT YOUNG MAN WHO PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE FOR HIS COUNTRY. HE WAS A GREAT FRIEND AND ALWAYS ENCOURAGED ME TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HIS FATHER, WHO WAS A DENTIST LIKE MYSELF.

Nick Ferencz a Marine? Whoda thought. Obviously  a tougher guy than we ever knew. Andy Mull, Dave  Wrege, Marty Block, Yeah. Nick? He coulda fit in with me, Charlie Ritchie, Jim Rood, and Rick Schaeffer none of us Marines. I did join the U. S. Air Force and spend a year remote in Korea but I did nothing like Nick did.

I was shocked years ago when I heard he was killed in a helocopter accident. A tender, thoughtful, photographer, tough guy killed in a simple accident. What a tragedy. We'd all be a little better off if we are lucky enough to know a Nick Ferencz.

Nick, I raise my glass to you, and those like you, tonight, and each night of our reunion that you should attend.

Yours

Ray
