Golf anyone? If there is interest, I was thinking of getting some tee times at Cocoa Beach Country Club on Sunday (of the reunion weekend.) Of course all would be welcome: Husbands, Wives, Kids (as long as they are old enough to buy beer and pay their gambling debts.)
Email me if you are interested.

Miss Vikki,
I have a snap shot of you up on myspace.com from Roosevelt. It looks like you have a bandaid or something on your chin. Who knows.

Friday night we are planning on doing some entertainment in the form of Basketball Free Throw and Football Throw all enclosed with prizes; also we are going to have a video slideshow of pictures during dinner that will run continously; if you guys have pictures that you want to show including your kids please sned them to Alyce. Everyone had a great time with Teresa and Karaoke at the 10yr. Keli has had some good input from other classmates that we are going to incorporate into the reunion. Also about 3/4 of the class filled out one page surveys before you graduated; ie: who you thought was hot; your favorite teacher; classmate; song; etc. pretty funny stuff; We are going to do a "roast" and call people out if they can remember what they put down; answer it correctly and you will win a prize; we will hand surveys out after the "roast"; I forgot I had them when we had the 10 yr. We will have a guest MC and potentially some of your former teachers. Saturday should be nice and laid back with Mark Aaron James and the kids. Remember no charge for the kids on Saturday and if you want to bring your parents if they are in town to help watch the kids that would be fine. Also, remember to call the Hilton for the $99 room rate for CBHS88. We will have security in case Russell Dacosta and Drew Filliben start taking their clothes off.

Bobby....I'm up for some golf, but after Friday and Saturday we might need a few shots of the hair of the dog to get us feeling right before we hit the links. Let me know what time.

I may be up for golf, but it depends on when I have to get back to work at Ft Bragg. (It also depends of course on whether my lovely bride will let me..:)

I was in Cocoa last weekend (14-17 AUG) to attend my dad's funeral. He passed after a year's battle with cancer. Please keep my mom and sister, who still live in Cocoa, in your thoughts and prayers. Also...I must add that the honor guard from P.A.F.B. did a first-class job during the military honors at his grave-side ceremony. They are great Americans!

Most of you probably know about the wide spread flooding caused by Fay this week. Did any of you living locally get any damage and need help? The Butlers weathered well.

Mike, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Cancer is an evil thing. I also lost my father to cancer in 2006. I had a five month crash course that will last a lifetime. He was 57 and diagnosed at a routine physical...the irony was that he felt absolutely perfect...yet it was everywhere... My prayers go out to you, your family, friends and loved ones...may he rest in peace...

Mike, I am sorry to hear about your father. As some of you may remember, I lost my father; whom I was very close to my senior year, it was the day before Thanksgiving and a week before my 18th B-day. So, I know what you & your family is going through....will keep all of you in my prayers; and Michelle, I will keep you in my prayers as well..am sorry to hear about your father's passing, too. All the activities sound fun; although I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do because of my back surgery/harware in there, but I many try taking some basketball shots from the foul line. (Ha!) This should be good.
Becki, I remember us hanging out and can't believe you ended up marrying Mike Butler. Looking back and seeing who was dating in high school, who stayed together, had kids, etc. is pretty cool. Can't wait to see everyone and how we've all changed. See everyone soon!

Everyone may be wondering why we changed to the Double Tree Resort from the Hilton; well to answer you question the change was necessary; we met with the Hilton in March and secured the ball room and the date for Thanksgiving weekend. We signed a contract for the room in September. To make a long story short the Hilton decided to give our ball room to a Christian group that booked 150 rooms; They decided not to tell us of their action until November the 11th, 2008; one month after they signed a contract with the Christian group; after conferring with our class counsel Robert Lindauer; some may remember Robert as Bobby from High School about the legality of the Hilton's actions; believe it or not Bob is an attorney; he informed us to read the contract, after reading the fine print it said management reserves the right to move our meeting location; they wanted us to have the restaurant and were going to give us free coffee and tea in return. Alyce Allen Clark Webster and myself met with Hilton the day we were supposed to pay them your hard earned money; this past Thursday two weeks before the event. To make a long story short we told them we are moving everything to the Double Tree Resort after getting a copy of the room list. We informed them that it was very unprofessional to let us know a month after they did a bait a switch. I told them that they threw away a 20 year relationship and jeopardized the relationship with the Cocoa Beach community. To make a long story short they do not care about us; God has given us the Double Tree Resort and to be honest with you it ripped my heart out when I found out the news because the Hilton holds some sort of sentimental value with all of us: Remember Doug Flom losing his pants at Hilton and almost getting expelled during Prom or when Dave Bitner almost pounded; or when Russ Dacosta stuffed a dozen egg rolls in his pocket at the ten year reunion and had them for breakfest; the stories are endless. However, we trusted they would come thru and I have to take some of the blame; I trusted like in the past that everything would be okay; well it was not; Trust has been lost. But after meeting with Double Tree we have come to find out we are going to be much better off; maybe I was too fixated on the Hilton; the Double Tree is going to be ten times better in terms of service, atmosphere and food, plus they have balconies and it does not look or feel like a hospital; Drew Filliben had a function at the Hilton this past week and said it was not a good experience. So to make a long story short we are going to have a great time at the Double Tree Resort, we are going to get a hell of a lot more for your money than the Hilton; along with a free kegs there will be free wine. I have had a few drinks writing this so if I am rambling it means that I am. Look forward to seeing you all and the don't forget about the roast to win your prizes the pre party Friday and the barbeque with the kids on Saturday. Believe it or not I am actually getting very excited. Pete

Hey everyone, just wanted to let everybody know what I'm planning...My sister, Carla, took her own life in Oct of 2007 r/t severe clinical depression she suffered with for 4 years. I'd like to do something positive to prevent others from doing the same.
I'm planning a walk with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention in CB Oct of 2009 in Carla's honor to bring awareness of the prevalence of suicide, and to prevent further sucides by educating people on treatment for mental illnesses like depression. It's a disease of the brain ...just like diabetes is a disease of the pancreas. Much research is needed to improve treatment options for this commonly overlooked and misunderstood disease.
Anyone interested in participating in the walk, let me know and I'll keep you updated. It will be on the beach starting at Lori Wilson Park, Oct of 2009.
See you soon!
Angela

That was a fantastic time on Friday night. Was great to see everyone again... sure is nice to know that we pretty much can pick up where we left off. Hopefully we can have our next one in five years instead of ten?
Alyce, Pete and Keli, a sincere thank you for your efforts. My wife has to plan her class reunions so I know just how much there is to do...
Best to all.
B.J.
As our good friend Bill Wilkinson said it best:
Party hardy, rock and roll.
We're the class they can't control.
We're the class the teachers hate.
We're the class of 88!!!
