The last time I saw Tom was on a taxi ride from Manhatten to the Brooklyn Navy Ship Yard. We had met up at Times Square and had a "sailor" evening in and around the seedier parts of Manhatten and points South, Greenwich (I can"t spell it) Village, etc.
I was stationed on a ship at the Navy Yard and he was at Governer's Island in the Coast Guard. My stop was closer so I was dropped off first. My last memory of Tom was him sleeping in the back of the cab as they headed for his station.
I had tried to meet up again here in Denver, but that never came about. I'm saddened that we never had the chance to have one last beer.
