Monty Thompsons' bass drum was usually placed directly behind me during practice in the band room, and the air escaping from the compression control hole always left a part down the back of my head! He got a kick out of that! Could have started a fashion fad, huh?
After our High School era, Monty visited me a number of times after my return from Viet Nam to just talk and make sure I was ok!!! That was a great and valuable time.
He later taught my cousin Bill Irwin cytology at Penrose Hospital.
Monty was a great man, and I cannot say enough good things about him.
