Gerald Giroux - Class Of 1963 VIEW PROFILE

Gerald “Gerry” Giroux, 69, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was born in Concordia to Edward and Armaline (Marcotte) Giroux.

Gerry graduated from Notre Dame High School, Concordia, then entered the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam.

Later in life, Gerry was co-owner of PG&R and was a student recruiter for Brown Mackie College. He taught computer science at KTI and later Kansas State University Salina for several years. He also enjoyed teaching hunter’s safety and smoking cessation classes. However, his passion over the past 40 years was his self-employed floor-covering business, Specialists Unlimited, where he contracted with several Salina homebuilders.

Gerry loved to hunt, fish and square dance with his wife and always had a story to tell.

He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, being an adult server, Eucharistic minister and past 4th-degree Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Norman; and 12 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Chris (Rachelle) Giroux, Bryan (Katie) Giroux, Aimee (Rod) Giroux and James (Amy) Beal; and grandchildren, Olivia, Gavin, Cowen, Cody, C.J., Austin, Christopher, Ryan, Tiffany, Jordan, Taylor, Megan and Kami.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 1, with family receiving friends from 6-8, and vigil at 7, all at Ryan Mortuary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
