SSG LeRoy D. Buckley was born on August 1, 1978; his home of record is Coquille, Oregon. He attended high school at Coquille High School, Coquille, OR. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 1997 as a 75B, Administration Specialist.

SSG Buckley's assignments and positions include a wealth of experience with the Special Operations Forces Communitybeginning in 1998 with HSC, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, NC as a Personnel Administrative Specialist to the end of 2008 as Human Resources NCO, HQ, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, NC. In January 2009 he was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment, as a Drill Sergeant.

SSG Buckley's military education includes Warrier Leader Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course, Airborne School, and Drill Sergeant School.

SSG Buckley's awards and decoations include the Army Commensation Medal (7 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Meritoriouos Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (4 Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Afganistan Campaign Medal with Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Driver's Badge.

SSG Buckley served 3 combat deployments to Afghanistan.

LeRoy is survived by his fiance' Tiffany Finch and son, Jayden Braun of St. Robert, MO; Mother, Brenda Menning of Powers, OR; Sister Louisa Johnson of Coos Bay, OR; Niece, Destiny Mouser of Coos Bay, OR; Two Brothers, Louis Johnson and Billy Lewis-Kubisiak of Auston, Texas; Sister, Teresa Buckley of California; Niece, Maricia Dollerhide of Myrtle Point, OR, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Edwin and Viola Buckley of Coquille, OR and LeRoy and Georgia Lewis of Buda, Texas; Sister Darlean Buckley of Myrtle Point, OR; Father David W. Buckley of Coquille, OR; and Step-Father Louis Johnson of Austin, Texas.
