Anabel Harvey

Anabel D Harvey, age 63, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2006, following a period of declining health.

She was born February 8, 1942 in Corpus Christi to Marguerite D Harvey and the late Richard Bradford Harvey.

Anabel is also survived by her sister, Sally Johnson of Irving, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Debbie Harvey of Plano, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law Mike and Barbara Harvey of Houston, Texas; her brother, Tony Harvey of Washington, DC; and many nieces and nephews.

Anabel graduated from Ray High School in 1959. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962, and she did graduate study at Texas A & I University. She earned a Teacher’s Certificate in Elementary Education and in Language and Learning Disabilities.

Anabel taught fifth and sixth grades, junior high English, and Special Education for twenty years. She taught in Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and San Benito; she enriched the lives of many students over those years.

Anabel retired to Corpus Christi and lovingly helped her mother care for her handicapped brother Matt until his death in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi; one of her special loves was helping teach English with the Literacy Program at First Baptist.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2006 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church Chapel, 3115 Ocean Drive, with Steve Hartwick officiating. Interment will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Belmont, Texas, where her father, Richard Bradford Harvey, and two brothers, Matthew Bradford Harvey and Timothy Hicks Harvey, are buried.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Literacy Program at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78404, or the charity of one’s choice.
