John M. Powell, 70, of Brenham, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011.

He was born Jan. 2, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas. John graduated from W. B. Ray High School and married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Thomas in 1960. He received a degree in architecture from the University of Texas and his career included designing buildings around the world. John enjoyed a lifetime full of travel and adventures, relishing new experiences. Several moves around the country brought many wonderful friends and church families.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son Don Powell, daughter Janna Braudrick (Wayne), and three grandchildren, Jessica, Michael and Benjamin Braudrick.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12 at First Baptist Church located at 304 North Market Street in Brenham. Viewing will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
