Leave it to Steve to pass away on April Fool's.  Used to run around with Steve and his pals from St. Alberts.  I was their token Lutheran.  First time I saw YES in concert was with Steve and the crew in Lincoln.  I was planning on getting reimbursed for several rounds I purchased at the tenth reunion.  Dang, he's one up on me again.

He had a tshirt that said "Have a shitty day" and so Kristin and I knicknamed him Shitty Day. He gave me his Boones Farm Strawberry Hill tshirt, which I felt honored at the time. So I guess you could say he's the kind of guy that would gvie you the shirt off of his back. RIP Shitty Day. Your bright smile will be missed.  Stubs

Dede and I were neighbors from seventh grade on...both families with six kids!  I was three years at Bloomer, he at St. Frances, so we actually had a few classes together as sophomores on.  Yes, I remember the T-shirt...it was a fixture on the clothesline!  More often though I remember his contagious smile....

Steve and I were in one of Clarence Smelser's classes together. One day as Mr.
Smelter took attendance, he noticed that Steve was wearing the "Have a Shitty Day"
T-shirt. Without saying anything, he gestured to Steve to come up to the front of the room. He took him into the hallway where they both disappeared. After about 20 minutes Mr. Smelser returned, followed by Steve who was wearing the T-shirt inside out. Even better was the grin Steve was wearing on his face. Needless to say, there wasn't a lot of learning in Mr. Smelser's classroom that day.

The best feature of the T-shirt was that the words "Have a Shitty Day" encircled a very large smiley face.

RIP Steve
