Darlene Yopp (Hansen)

Darlene F. Hansen, 55, of rural Union, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from injuries sustained in an auto accident near New Providence, Iowa. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls with Pastor David Werges officiating. Darlene's family will gather to greet friends on Tuesday, December 6 from 5pm to 7pm at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Darlene was born February 14, 1956 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1974. On December 15, 1980 she was united in marriage to Steven J. Hansen at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls and they made their home in the Eldora-New Providence area.

Darlene has been employed as a youth services worker the past five years; at Quakerdale of New Providence and just several days ago began employment with Youth Shelter Services in Ames. Prior to working as a youth worker she had worked at Whink Products in Eldora and had provided in-home health care for the elderly.

She was a warm and caring person and was there for anyone that needed her. She enjoyed riding motorcycle with her husband, Steve; crocheting; and especially spoiling her grandchildren, Natalee and Brayden.

Surviving is her husband, Steve; parents, Dorothy and Raymond Gillman of Council Bluffs; children, Crystal Lepley and her husband Matt of Newton, Iowa, Nikki Hansen of rural Union; grandchildren, Natalee and Brayden Lepley; sisters, Barbara (Marvin) Godden of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Gina Gillman of Garrison, Iowa, and Lea Manning of Washington State; and brothers, David (Katherine) Yopp of Council Bluffs and Darryl (Michelle Miller) Yopp also of Council Bluffs.
