Earl Graff

Earl Jean Graff, age 92, of Council Bluffs, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015, at Amelia Place in Council Bluffs.

He was born October 15, 1922, in Shelby, Neb., to George and Lottie (Richter) Graff. Earl served with the United States Navy during World War II. He married Dorothy Morgan on January 5, 1946, in San Francisco, Calif.. Earl started his teaching and coaching career in Tekamah, Neb., then went to York, Neb. In 1963 he moved his family to Council Bluffs, where he taught at Eastside High School. He later became Principal at Kirn Jr. High, and then Assistant Principal, Athletic Director at Abraham Lincoln High School. He finished his career out at Longfellow and Meyers School retiring in 1986. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, camping and Nebraska football.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; siblings, Burl (twin), Paul and Harold Graff, Mable Poe, Helen Learned, Gladys Hobbs and Pearl Doty.

Earl is survived by daughter, Kathy Cardwell; granddaughter, Kelly Cardwell, both of Council Bluffs; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9, 2015, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Services will be 9 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015, at Broadway United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs. Interment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at 12:30 p.m., with military rites tendered by the Kanesville Riders Honor Guard. The family will direct memorials.
