Melvin Ray Parker, age 70, of Monroe, died on June 21, 2018. He was born in Covington, GA on March 13, 1948 to the late Alfred Parker and the late Ophelia Yancey Parker. 

Ray began his career at the FBI Academy in the fingerprint department. Later, he served his country with one tour during the Vietnam War. When he returned, Ray began a long career in helping his community working at the Newton and Walton County EMS, Monroe Police Department, and Walton County Sheriffâ??s Department. He retired in 2016.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pat Parker of Monroe; children, Chris and Diane Parker, Kelly and Scott Christman, Jan and Chip McGaughey, Kim Torres; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Gail Parker of Adamstown, MD; grandchildren, Jacob Fouts, Hudson McGaughey, Kira Torres, and Courtney Fetters. 

A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Wills officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery.
