Obituary

Arthur Lutherus, 58, a lifelong resident of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Art pursued a career in Fire Service, which included time as a Firefighter/Paramedic for Crystal Lake, Elk Grove Township, and Glenview respectively.  He then returned to Crystal Lake as their Fire Inspector/Arson Investigator in 2010, until his retirement in August of 2021.

An avid outdoorsman, Art enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and scenic rides with his wife, Val, on their Harley.  His summers were spent catching fish on Crystal Lake or camping with his family at Devil’s Lake State Park in Wisconsin.   Art’s true love, however, was his family; always making time for his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Art is survived by his wife of 38 years, Valerie (nee Schueneman); daughters, Emily (Patrick) Fitzgerald, Madelyn (Matt) Schulien; son, Steven; mother, Elfriede Moliviatis; brothers, Robert (Traci) Lutherus, Lucky (Jaye) Moliviatis; and his beloved grandchildren, Patrick, Fiona, Charles, and Delaney.   He was preceded in death by his father, Otto, and his daughter, Abigail.

A visitation for Art will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014 on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 2 PM until 6 PM with a celebration of life service starting at 4 PM and a fireman’s walk through ceremony  immediately following. Interment will be private.
