Ralph C. Hardy, Jr. born June 25, 1943, in LaGrange, GA passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021.
Ralph grew up in Park Ridge and Crystal Lake, IL graduating from Crystal Lake High School in 1961, and Beloit College in 1965 where he met his wife, Nancy. He attended Washington University Law School in St. Louis, graduating with honors in 1968. His first job was as a law clerk for Federal Judge Henry Wise in Danville, IL. Moving to Elgin, IL, he joined the law firm of Kirkland, Brady, McQueen, Callahan, and Collins. In 1982, he and Frank Ariano established the two-man firm of Ariano and Hardy which continues today as Ariano, Hardy, Ritt, Nyuli, Richmond, Lytle, and Goettel in South Elgin, and Huntley.
Ralphs civic involvement over the years included, Elgin Jaycees, Fox Valley Music Association, Elgin YMCA Board President, Elgin YMCA Pelicans Swim Team Board President, Elgin Symphony Board, Elgin High Booster Club Board President, legal counsel for Girl Scouts Sybaquay Council, Presence St. Joseph Hospital Board, Grafton Food Pantry volunteer, and serving on the bank boards of Paw Paw, Waterman, and Harris Bank.
A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox, and the Illini, in later years Ralph loved following his grandkids' activities, travel, and enjoying life in Huntley where he and Nancy have lived since 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; three daughters, Elizabeth (Mike) Fischer, Stephanie (Brad) Gries, and Meredith (Bob) Hensel; and six wonderful grandchildren, Matt & Will Fischer, Lauren & Ethan Gries, and Sam & Jack Hensel; and sister, Dianne (Bob) Hoerter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph C. and Natalyn (Pike)Hardy, Sr.; and brother, Stephen Hardy.
Services will be Private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Grafton Twp. Food Pantry or the Huntley Area Library.
