Karen and I were married for 3o years. During that time, we agreed that she would be a "full-time mother" and a "part-time worker" outside the home. As a result, she worked hard for our children in various organizations, such as Pat's Paraders, the 4-H, Cub Scouts, various soccer teams, including help form Cudahy Soccer, and the Bay View Baptist Church. She received numerous civic awards and was the church secretary.

She helped maintain family ties with many vacations to relatives out of state from North Dakota to Louisiana to Pennsylvania. We both shared a love for traveling and showing the world to our children.

Her personal passion was singing, so she belonged to the church choir and the Racine Sweet Adelines. This group is composed of women from the area, who have competed in at least two world competitions while Karen was a member. She was so active in the organization as a bookkeeper for bingo (I was the caller) she earned a S.A.L.L.Y. (Sweet Adeline's Leading Lady of the Year) award. This award is not given out every year.

Being a part-time worker, and possessing a strong willed personality, she told bosses to "TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT" on more than one occasion! She always found work after that.

She died in 2001 of pulmonary fibrosis. This is an incurable disease of the lungs.
