So, my husband said he'd only come if we all dressed the way we did in 1988. He's dying to see me with ankle boots, feathered hair, and really can't wait to meet the people I went to the Def Leppard concert with (Tessa!!).

You have to bring your spouse. Why wouldn't your spouse want to see who your old friens were. My wife's reunion was a blast plus it gives us an excuse to get a sitter, a hotel room and.... A night without the kids!!!

Yea Stephanie! That was definately a good look for all of us! I just heard "Time Zone--World Destruction" on the radio. I had to call my sister and play the whole thing on her voice mail. Did anyone else frequent the club "One Step Beyond" besides me? I had a fake I.D. stating I was a WHOPPING eighteen-years-old!

Hahaha - One Step! If we went south we hit that up, if we went north we hit up the Vortex (yikes!). I'm still friends with one of the DJs from the old One Step days... Oddly enough, I was up in SF this weekend at the DNA Lounge for "New Wave City" - just going through the doors was like going back in time...

holy crikey...the Vortex. What a flashback. The Cure is coming to Santa Barbara next month. I was amusing my husband with old "Cure nights at the Vortex" tales of teen-mayhem sponsored by Bartles and James.
Stephanie, I look forward to meeting your husband. Tesla and Def Leppard at the Cow Palace. I still have the ticket stub and memories of getting to South SF in.. 20 minutes flat? Somewhere in a junkyard the remains of an '81 Honda tuna-can rest in peace with sweet, sweet memories.

You guys are making this sound like it would be a blast. Unfortunately, I have to fly out (from NC) in July/August for a conference. Since I'm bringing the kids for that (or face the wrath of my father), I can't come back out for the reunion.
However, I'm all about getting together with friends while I'm out for my business trip.
And, for all of you considering the spouse conundrum, perhaps you need to have a spouses party with the video games.

Hey HS 88 peeps. I am looking foward to this event. Gives me a good reason to drive down to the bay area. Like Glen was saying, reflecting back at the yearbooks was cool. Its funny how many of us knew each other from West Valley then Cupertino Jr High, and on to HHS. I hope its a big turnout.

I sure am excited to see you all that are attending the big 20year Homestead High Reunion... Chuck Quanz and I see each other everyday since we both work for the City of Santa Clara. We are like are own reunion every day.. LOL
I'm sure due for this one since I haven't made it to all the other reunions. I hope everyone is doing good and still kicking like a true Mustang.. I finally bought my mustang since I couldnt afford one in High School so I had to get a black 2006 Gt to make my dream finally come true. I'm sure we all settled down ,especially the one's who have kids now. Boy, being married with kids sure put me in to check. No more going streaking down Mary Ave or wakening up at someones house that I never remember going to with empty beer can lids made into a necklace. Boy I'm glad I don't drink anymore!!!

No yearbook pictures! I am also trying to forget! Just kidding, that would be pretty funny actually.
Not sure if my wife is coming yet. Probably work best if there was a BBQ day or something for them as our son won't be a year old yet by then. Plus there is the logistics of flying from WA etc.
It sounds like a bunch of us went back to school. I am glad I am not the only one. It is much more challenging later in life.
It would be fun to see James McComb again as we spent lots of time sitting in the hallway in Elementary School together for disrupting class.

Yes, Chris... we did spend a lot of time in the hallway in trouble, didn't we? You'll be happy to know I carried on that tradition through most of jr. high & high school... once in high school a teacher kicked someone else out of class for talking and kicked me out as well because I "might do something later" - really? OK, she was probably right...

If anyone hasn't had enough of their 80's fix after the reunion... good after-party spot in the city!

We are working on the picnic details and will send out an email tomorrow! What we can say is that it will be on Sunday at Grant Park in Los Altos and will start around 11:00am. Food details are still being worked on....
Thanks!

Hey All,
Last night was great fun at Matt Kahn's Cigar Bar and Grill--thanks again Matt for hosting us all!
I'm really looking forward to tonight's reunion, and I'm also wondering, since there are so many who won't be able to make it, is there a way to continue using this website to perhaps organize informal gatherings in our particular areas? Like maybe a Local's Night. Of course I'm feeling all inspired to hook up with people again, and I'm just realizing that it may be easier to make that happen through the momentum of a group.
See you soon!
Darya

I love Darya's idea! It was great to see everyone at the reunion and those who made it to the picnic as well. It was nice to meet families yesterday and see all the kids play together.
If it is easier, we can also start a Yahoo group for people in the area and set up casual get-togethers and playdates, etc. I can help with that if there is interest! For those in the area who want to do that, send me an email at joshear1@yahoo.com and I will set up a yahoo group.

I’ll second Darya and Jody’s opinions, especially the idea of keeping the momentum going from this reunion. I don’t want to wait another five or ten years to see people again! Maybe it was just me, but I had some great conversations with people that I never had much contact with in high school.
I admit to being a complete novice on Facebook, but maybe someone could set up a group on there for local Mustangs. But whatever the forum, I definitely want to keep in touch with everyone! Drop me a line at andy@babybates.com when the mood strikes.

Okay, I created a Facebook group called Homestead High ’88 Bay Area, for anyone interested in setting up social events, play dates, or whatever. You can check it out at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=29406486167&ref=mf.
