After high school, I went off to college at UC Davis, and received my Bachelor's in Computer Science. Several of my closest friends (including Dave Evans) were at UC Santa Barbara during that period, and I always loved the area when I went to visit, so I ended up moving down there for graduate school in 1992. My high school friends had moved away by that time, so I ended up rooming with a couple of their former roommates who I had met in my previous visits to the area. After two grueling years in the computer lab overlooking the beach, I got my Masters degree in Computer Science.
During a visit home in 1994, I met Marcy, and we started dating shortly thereafter, when I moved back to the Bay Area. We were married in 1996. After that, it's all a blur...I seem to remember changing jobs a few times, we had a couple of cute kids, bought a house, and somehow I ended up working at Apple, where I have been for almost five years now (which, in Silicon Valley, seems like a lifetime!). It's nice to be in the same area where I grew up, and my parents appreciate having grandkids within driving distance. I still drive by Homestead on a regular basis when I go to visit my parents, but the kids out front look like they're in grade school. Were we ever that young? |
