Well, first off, thanks to Kristin for getting this started, she's done an amazing job, and it looks cool.

I guess we'll start with a topic of favorite teacher. Now to qualify, it must be a high school teacher!

You must tell us your favorite high school teacher, and why they were your favorite and maybe share a funny story about that teacher.

So I'll start, in high school my favorite teacher was Mr. Genter. He was my favorite because he made us do our work, but he kept the class fun, cracking jokes, making fun of the stupid stuff we did, and making us laugh at ourselves more than anything else.

My favorite funny story about Mr. Genter... it would probably have to be chemistry class... before he allowed us to play with the chemicals, and more specifically the hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, I can remember him handing a bottle of acid to Mark Martin, and looking towards the heavens pleading with god not to let anyone blow up the science room. What Mr. Genter didn't realize, was that Mr. Allen was right behind him when he said it, and said a very audible AMEN which scared the bejeezus out of Mr. Genter.

NEXT....

Mr. Genter also stands out for me as my favorite teacher. I know he was invited (and attended) the Class of 1988 reunion last year, so we definitely need to extend the invite to him this summer. I remember dissecting frogs and can now appreciate, as an educator, the passion and sense of humor he had as an educator. Thanks for memories, Mr. Genter.

BTW, this website was really a stretch of my technology abilities. Thank God for the "20 somethings" teaching in my building who helped me with this FREE technology endeavor! I am having fun with it.

If you know the whereabouts of any staff members, please email me. I will put that information out to everyone...and I am working on scanning their photos just like I did everyone else.

Does anyone have a clue how to find (or from what countries) our exchange student classmates were from?

i would have to agree that Mr. Genter was one of the favorites although where were alot that liked Ms. Woods Math too. I see Deanne Charlesbois a couple times a year(her and my mom hang out) so I know where she is, and I'm sure she know how to contact others, she just retired last year.

And Barney you have way too much free time..... :)

Actually, although many people did not care for Ms. Wood English I actually got to prefer her to Ms. Wood Math. I took her creative writting and advanced English classes and she kind of got used to me. I think it was one of my older siblings that pissed her off.

And Gillentine, or Loeb, or whatever you last name is now. Don't you start with me, I know where to find you. lol..

Oh, and Ruthie, if you think your training as a cop is going to help you.. think again, been there, done that. hahahaha.. Just kidding.. see you at the 20.

Hello,

My favorites are Wig and Bauer(Porch). Although I have learned more from them now on the golf course and at the after league beverage consumption.

I would also like to thank Kristin for putting this together - Great Job!

OK, I'll add another thanks to Kristin for putting this all together.

As for the vote, I'll throw my vote in the hat for Mr. Norman (surprise). Having spent half of my day in that building for the last few years of High School means I have less memories of other teachers as well. Of course I blame college for memory loss (at least some 'activities' at college). I appreciated Mr. Norman's energy and excitement for music and, by the way, that same 'excitement' leads me to my funny story.

This one time, at band camp... Ben Lee was as attentive as ever, walking around the field rather than marching. At one point he turned left when everybody else turned right and headed off in the wrong direction. It was near the end of the day and we all just wanted to be done. So there's Mr. Norman, long shorts and even longer white socks (pulled up over his knees) literally hopping mad. He was hopping across the field by the playground, arms flailing, screaming and his face was as red as ever. Ben!!!

Hope this message finds you all well and I'll see you in the summer.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Ms. Cheadle! I loved her! She created a level 4 English class for me my senior year because I had already taken all of her classes!

My favorite memory of her had to be when she almost peed her pants laughing at the fact that one of the characters of the play was being called a "tauny tarter" and she had given the part to Voni Carter.

My favorite person in highschool was Mrs. Charlevoix the librarian--Loved her! She was so sweet, I wished I could have stayed in there all day.
I perfered Mrs. Genter to Mr. I ran into her at my daughter's Science Olympiad and we had a great talk--she filled me in on all the Dansville "talk."
Okay if I had to vote for a teacher it would be Ms. Wiggington, I liked Spanish, her English class--she inspired me, and I thought she was funny.
Mr. Bethke (physics--I think?) was fun also...he was a pushover then would blow his top but you have to admit we had fun. Remember building bridges?

I have to admit I'm a little too into this reunion thing. I've enjoyed getting to know all of your families and current place in your respective lives (I love the fish that Ruth caught that's almost as big as she). I thought most of the teachers to be pretty amazing. I cannot believe Mrs. Olson, Mr. Clickner and Mrs. Driggs are still teaching in elementary. And I see Loretta now teaches beside them!
So, I'd like to know the craziest things you've done in the last year to prepare for this reunion. I've gone into this craze of watching youtube of the good ol' songs by: Cinderella, Winger, Debbie Gibson (ooh, did I admit that?) and even Journey. I've not listened to these groups since, well, the 10th class reunion! Music just isn't the same nowadays.
I look forward to catching up with the lot of you.

Hi Chad, Here is my answer: Craziest thing to prepare for the reunion?? Huge prep for the reunion was 80's Day at Holt Hope Middle School, ...My 12 y/o Bailey had 80's day at school and she had no clue what 1980's was all about...so, I gave a crash course in music, video games, movies and popular dress of the times. We pulled up Madonna, Guns and Roses, and all the other big hair bands...her favorite was Bon Jovi and Phil Collins!!! So with all that knowledge under her 12 y/o belt, she went to school will the big ratted out hair with a big scarf tied in a bow, tank top with a big scoop neck sweat shirt, leggings, and tons of bracelets going up her arm. She looked cute...and caught the attention of all the teachers in the school that graduated in the 80's!!! I do have to say that when your child has 80's Day...it makes you feel kind of old--but worth it, good times re-discovering a little bit of 80's history.

Tiffany:
Thanks for sharing...that IS a crazy "reunion prep" story. Got any photos to upload to your profile from that day?

Chad:
In order to get 'ready' for the reunion I have had to step outside my comfort zone and get help from the "twenty something" teachers in my building to help me put together this website. They now have me on Facebook, saving my favorites in Delicious, and I have learned about many Web 2.0 tools out there. Wow...things have changed in 20 years!

I had the pleasure to see Tiffany's daughter, Bailey, all dressed up and the best part was that she looked just like I remember her mom looking in the 80's!

I talked to Ms. Charlesbois, she is planning on stopping by Spags, I'll check to see if she's eating, she is going to try and contact Genter and talk Ms. Cheadle into going also

Kristin Staffeld (Flynn)

If anyone hears of teachers wanting to attend who also plan to eat at Spaggs, please contact Voni Booyinga as she has already given the count to Spaggs based on the number of people who stated they were planning to attend via the class survey. If you have not yet sent money to Shannon Martin, please plan to pay at the door. Thanks!
