Gloria (S. M. Jacinta Sscm) Mihalik - Class Of 1948

Sister M. Jacinta, 85, (Gloria Mihalik) died on December 23, 2015, Emmanuel Center, Danville. Born in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Kokinchak) Mihalik. Sister attended Holy Trinity School, Gorton High School in Yonkers and graduated from St. Cyril Academy, Danville, PA. She received a B.S. in Education from Marywood University, Scranton, PA and continued her education at Cardinal Stritch, Milwaukee, WI, where she received an M.A. as a Reading Specialist. Her entrance into the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius occurred on February 2, 1949. Sister was received as a novice on August 11, 1949, and made her first profession on August 9, 1951. Sister Jacinta taught in parish schools in Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania, in Kindergarten and Grades 1, 2, 3, 6,7, and 8. For seventeen years she served as superior/principal in schools in New York City, Stratford, CT and Swoyersville, PA. She also worked as librarian in schools in Pennsylvania and New York. When she retired from education, she was missioned to Maria Joseph Manor where she served in various capacities. Sister Jacinta is survived by a niece, Mary DeAngelis, Rutland, Vermont, and two nephews, Carl Gogolak, Baskingridge, New Jersey, and Victor Gogolak, McLean, Virginia. The transferal rite and recitation of the Rosary will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Maria Hall, Danville, followed by a Wake Service at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m.
