Scholastica "Sally" Sullivan

Scholastica "Sally" Sullivan (nee` Rybar) passed away in Jersey City on November 17, 2021 with her family by her side. She was 86. Born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, Sally was a graduate of the Mercy College School of Nursing. As a newly Registered Nurse, Sally took a position with the prestigious Jersey City Medical Center and while there caught the eye of John L. Sullivan, a member of the Jersey City Police Department. The two married and settled in Jersey City living as newlyweds at Murdoch Hall at the Medical Center. After raising her family Sally continued her nursing career at both the Lutheran Home and Saint Joseph's Home before retiring several years ago. Sally was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John L Sullivan(ret. JCPD) and her siblings in Pennsylvania. She is survived by her children John Michael Sullivan, Christopher Patrick Sullivan and his wife Maxine, Mary Margaret Sullivan and Lawrence Gerard Sullivan and his wife Maryann; his 2 grandsons, John L Sullivan and Michael Anthony Sullivan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. Visiting will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 8 to 9 a.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07306. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
