Sister Cynthia Marie Gazdo, SS.C.M., 78, died on April 3, 2020, at Emmanuel Center, Danville.

She was born Feb. 11, 1942, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late Peter and Suzanne (Brinza) Gazdo.

She attended Holy Rosary School in Republic, Pa., and completed her education at Immaculate Conception School, Middletown. In 1961, she graduated from St. Cyril Academy, Danville.
She entered the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Danville on Sept. 8, 1961, was received as a novice on Aug. 13, 1962, and made her profession on Aug. 13, 1964.

Sister Cynthia Marie performed general duties at St. Methodius Convent, Maria Joseph Manor, Maria Hall, Danville and at VillaSt. Cyril, Highland Park, Ill. Later she engaged in the Ministry of Prayer and Hospitality at Maria Hall and Emmanuel Center.

Sister Cynthia Marie is survived by one sister, Mrs. Rose Marie Chimiento, Glendale Heights, Ill.; one brother, Ronald Gazdo of Palmyra; one cousin, Andrew Sherbaugh of Republic; nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

There will be a private graveside Committal Service held for the family this week. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date to be announced.
