For this 2018 Reunion the Reunion Committee is trying something a bit different. We have made all plans a-la-carte…in other words you are in charge, you order what you want and pay for it yourself the entire weekend rather than sending money in up front, etc. This makes things easier for everyone involved including you! We have reserved a discounted block of rooms, and made reservations for Saturday's lunch and dinner.
We usually stay at the Dayton Marriott on Patterson Blvd, however, this year they are already booked solid for that weekend so we did the next best thing: we booked a block of room at the just-renovated "DoubleTree Suites by Hilton" in Miamisburg near the Dayton Mall (great locational just off I-75 near I-675, address: 300 Prestige Place, Miamisburg) There is a pool and fitness room as well as a “grab and go market”, Bistro Lounge with nightly drinks and appetizers and a restaurant…everything you need at your fingertips!
To help with our lunch and dinner reservation plans your reunion committee needs to have a good idea how many people are coming and will be attending both the Saturday Carollin Brewing Company lunch and the Yet-to-Be Determined-Restaurant for Saturday dinner. Please email me and let me know if you are planning to attend so we can get a headcount and also let everyone know who is going to be able to attend. REUNION WEEKEND SCHEDULE:
Friday Night, September 21st:
5:30-7pm - Alumni Dinner (Tailgate) on lawn across street from Oakwood stadium before the 7pm Homecoming Game if you would like to check it out (this is put on every year by the Alumni Association…they serve either hamburgers or hot dogs, chips and drink for $5. It is a fun to see friends from our class as well as classes not our own). The game that night is Oakwood’s Homecoming game if you would like to go in and watch - starts at 7pm (warning: the cheerleaders look like they are around 12 years old!).
7-11pm - DoubleTree Suites Bistro Lounge - nice lounge bar with appetizers where we can meet and greet, catch up & get some food and drinks.
Saturday, September 22nd:
9:30am - Morning & Afternoon School Tours: Oakwood High School Tour starts at 10am; Harman and Smith Elementary Schools self-guided tours 2pm-4pm.
11:30 - 3pm - Lunch at Carillon Park's Carillon Brewing Company - Carillon Brewing Company is well known for it's reproduced historical beers and European comfort-food recipes all served by a staff dressed in period costumes. We have booked 2 tables at the Brewing Company Restaurant and we will order off their menu. For those of you interested in seeing the Carillon Historical Park there is a $7 Senior Citizen Admission to a 65-acre park and museum which contains historic buildings and exhibits concerning the history of technology and the history of Dayton and its residents from 1796 to the present.
6pm - Dinner at Restaurant near DoubleTree Suites - (there are 42 restaurants near this hotel and as yet we have not picked one). We plan on having our own room and ordering drinks and food individually from the restaurant menu

Sunday Morning, September 23rd:
9-noon - Breakfast/Brunch at DoubleTree restaurant before we all head off.
DoubleTree Suites Reservations - what you need to know:
We have booked 30 rooms for Friday and Saturday nights at $130/night plus a 14.4% occupancy tax. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out is noon. All reservations will be on an individual basis directly through their Reservations Department at 937-436-2400 (request the group rate for OAKWOOD HIGHSCHOOL REUNION). There is also an individual booking link being provided if you would like to book your reservations online Booking Link: http://group.doubletree.com/OakwoodHighSchoolReunion THE cut-off-date to book a room at this rate is 8/31/2018 and so you know: cancellations within 24 hours from the date of arrival will be billed for one nigh room and tax.
