It was great having Tom as a close friend and, for a while, roommate. We laughed long, hard and often. He had a wonderful family. I think of him a lot, and the memories are uplifting.

Tom and I were very close friends, spent a lot of time at each other's homes, living just across Ford Field from one another.  Tom struggled with his health from very young, including our time at Adams Junior High and at DHS, with early onset diabetes, and had to inject himself with insulin each and every day and carry a sugar cube with him which those of us close to him were trained to give him if he went into insulin overdose.  Then and now I think of him as very brave for, at such a young age, having had to self medicate so methodically.  We went camping several times, sledding and tobagonning at Ford Field when the snowfalls permitted.  I think of him often.  I think he was my very earliest close friend.  I remember how sad I was to have heard from my Mother that he had passed.

Hey, I knew Tom Currie from grade school.  He would skate on the pond across from my home.  Even at that time he was taking insulin.  Honestly, when I posted on this web site I hoped I would read Tom was his clever self and thriving.  Juvenile diabetes is devastating and I am so glad Byron you were such a great friend to Tom.  He was great and did not deserve this nasty disease.
