No one was more funny or fun to be with than Mark Edmunds. From the time we met in ninth grade at Adams Junior High until the most recent time we were together, Mark always got us laughing. I miss Mark and his sense of humor, and think about him and the things we did together all the time.
Bill, you mention meeting Mark in the 9th grade at Ray Adams. I always assumed you guys were together from 7th grade or earlier, and that you and Mark were Dearbornites early-on. Did one of you arrive later at Adams? Not a big deal but, as they say, Enquiring minds want to know.
Jim: I transferred to Adams from Emmanuel Lutheran School (Military and Morley) in the ninth grade. This is when I met Edmunds, Chaput, Duggan, Van Velzor, Baldori, Skogmo, etc. They didn't have guys like this at the Lutheran school!
Okay, I thought it might be something like that. And, yes, the roster of fellows you mentioned at Adams was not likely to be found at your previous school...but then again, that's where YOU came from! :)
Enjoying the reunion site, it's lots of fun. Been trying to add at least a little something here and there on the "In Memory" section. I guess over time it's not unusual to have numerous names listed there. Sad, yes, but compelling and revered memories as well.
I know this site is for high-school but it naturally beckons back to junior-high days as well. Hopefully some of the entries -- e.g. for Allen Eddy -- don't wrinkle any feathers, but instead bring back real-life memories of youth on the move in a truly interesting and unique era.
Mark, Richard Chaput and I were very close friends from grade school at Salisbury, through Adams Junior High and DHS, spending a lot of time in each other's houses on Morley Avenue. Mark was great fun, adventurous, mischievous, but it seems that others of us were always the ones getting in trouble, whether we were the ones who started the shenanigans, or Mark, who never seemed to get caught. I am very saddened to learn of his passing.
