To the best of my recollection, Bobby and Guy French were cousins. Bobby was a three or four year football letterman, playing guard. Short, but powerfully built, Bobby was capable of the controlled violence Coach Ogle expected on the playing field, but was a quiet, soft spoken gentleman, with an easy smile, when in street clothes. His crew cut(or flat top) was the envy of many of us nerds who could never properly grow one.

Most of my experience with Bobby was on the football field. I believe he could hit you harder than Tommy Wright (whew). On occasion , coach Ogle would have the lineman carry the ball and have us backs tackle them in what was called head ons. Cheeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzz. I still see stars when I think of having to tackle Bobby. Then the backs would carry the ball and have the lineman tackle us. Now I remember why we all loved coach Ogle so much.

In 1955 I played on the undefeated VFW baseball team with Bobby. The best I remember Bobby played center field. He was a strong hitter and hit many home runs. Our coaches called him (Dusty Rhodes) for the power hitter with the New York Giant's. Also on our team was Guy French and Jimmy Don Jackson, both good players. Great memories.

Bobby and I were good friends in high school. We would wrestle before class. Bobby was stronger than me but would not hurt me. It was all in fun. I did not have to play opposite him on the practice field, but I did have to play opposite Tom Wright, which was worse.

In West Decatur, when we were younger, we had a pretty good Little League baseball team at the field under the Water tower. It was made up of Bobby Miller, Jimmy Don Jackson, and Dillard Trusell, in the outfield. Guy French and Don Holt in the infield,Tad Black pitched, and I was the catcher. Tads dad, was the coach, "Coach Black". We won the Championship one year, beating out Austinville, and my cousins, Jim and Mike Moebes! One afternoon, we played a intersquad game, and Bobby tried to steal Home on me. Needless to say he did, and Coach Black said I did not "ComeTo" for 5 minutes! Bob was a good friend to all of us. He was like a Lamb, off the field, but he was a "Stud" on the field.
