Holy Mary Mother of God! It saddens me when those that I know pass away young, but this one hits hard. Eddie was a fantastic guy in school. It's tragic events like this that really make me wish I'd been able to keep in touch with some of my classmates after graduation.

i'm so sorry to hear about Eddie and his daughter. Life is too short. This story should make us all remember to stop and smell the roses.

Eddie jumped in the pool trying to save his daughter. He died at the pool with her. I played basketball with Eddie at Decatur and he was a really good guy.I saw his dad at Logans and he told me stories of how much Eddie loved all of his friends.

Back a few years ago I got a call at my house kinda late and it was Eddie. Although we were both in Decatur I had not seen him or heard from him in years. We talked for 2 hours until midnight. He was asking about alot of you and what was going on in everyones life and where everyone was now. We laughed at so many stories. I'll admit i initially was trying to end the conversation and finish some work ,but the more we talked the more we laughed. It was great, We ended the talk at midnight and he immediately called back and asked if I would meet him the next day and talk some more in person. I said yes we would meet wherever and whenever he wanted after work.He said he didnt know when he would get through with work ,but would call. He said he just needed to see me and talk some more. I really thought it was strange and a little unsettling but I was going. Eddie never called that day or night or ever again. About a week later I see the story that Mark described in the paper about his drowning in his apartment pool along with his daughter. I cried hard that night about such terrible losses and i still wonder just what he needed that next day. Although I certainly dont think that Eddie knew anything would happen its very strange and I'm so thankful that we shared that 2 hour talk right before his death. Katie is right, stop the cycle and call your old friends. Im the worst at this but I'm going to start.

You will be missed. I am so sad to hear of your passing. I remember that day well. I was the dispatcher sending help your way. You are now with your daughter in your forever home. Watch over the rest of us.

Oh my!! it is amazing how we still touch the lives of our classmates later on in life. Eddie's daughter was my "cousin" and that was a very sad time in our lives. We lost a very special loved one and a classmate that made us all smile.

Thanks for being the dispatcher.

Eddie and I stayed close friends after graduation. We would get together with our daughters and go to the park. We talked about life in general. Eddie and I were together the morning of his death picking out floats for his daughter, so they could go swimming. I had to go to Huntsville later that day and heard the news on my way back. I miss and love him like a brother.

At that time of Eddie's death I owned a restaurant across the street from where Eddie worked. He would come by at least twice a week and we would talk about the old days at the high school. It blew me away when I heard about the tragedy. Eddie was a true hero. He died trying to save his daughters life. Rest in peace.
