Your 50th Yearbook entry:
My wife and I are enjoying life “inside the Beltway,” where we’ve been for 18 years. Beverly Merchant and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary later this year. We had a bearded ex-Marine living in the basement of our McLean, Va., home, but our son has (finally) moved out. Kevin, now 25, is general manager of a local restaurant. Bev and I are both working, apparently unable to stop, but we find time to enjoy Washington (National Symphony, Georgetown basketball).
Bev is in commercial real estate in northern Virginia and still enjoys the art, and frustration, of the deal. Under the category “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” I’m now a publications editor for AARP. It’s actually a logical extension of a long career in journalism with the Miami Herald and San Jose Mercury News. I also write occasional book reviews and feature pieces, and those gentle admonitions from Lambert and McGlynn – clarity! no extraneous words! - live on.
