Joe (Junior as we called him then) lived one house and a vacant lot down the street from us when we were kids. I was amused to see he was still working in wood, because he was always building something, even then. He would build a little house and I would take my dolls and kithcen toys down there and put them in the house. In a short time, he would tear the house down and build another one. One time he was hammering on the outside of one of the houses and I was inside. He stuck a hammer inside and tapped me on the knee. It hurt, so I went out and hit him with my doll. His Mom sent me home, and my mom and his mom (Ruth, a dear lady) got into a yelilng match. it took Joe, Sr. and my dad to hold them back and calm them down! We all made up. I have fond memories of Joe. I lost track of him over the years, but noticed in the pic that he still had that nice smile that I remembered. My condolences to his family.
I didn't see Joe for 45 years after we left school, then he came to work for my little company. Joe his wife Evie and my wife Nancy and I became very good friends. Joe lived for his wife, kids, and grandkids.hed He loved brag about his family, he loved so dearly. I truly admired Joe he was a great person, and would do anything in his power for you.
Lois, I don't know if you knew but I am a fellow Hoosier
