50th Class Reunion

DETAILS

Defiance High School Class of 1960 has planned our 50th year reunion. The reunion is scheduled for the weekend of September 11, 2010, beginning with a Welcome Home Celebration all day Friday, September 10.  We have lots of fun planned and activity for all.  We ask you plan to be here for the entire weekend as we have a busy schedule to entertain you plus a private facility the entire weekend for gathering and reminiscing.
If you need assistance when coming in from out of town, just contact us and we'll assist all we can. With the re-location of St Rt 24, other major road construction is required as well. Therefore our town is somewhat divided as to access. With most of our major motels being located on the north side, this requires traveling through the most road construction and detours. We will assist all we can. Provided below is a few of the newer and some of the older motels in the area and are recommended:

This is appearing to be the best turnout for a reunion so far and we need all to make every effort you can to make this event as this is the one we've waited for.

Reunion Reminder
With the Reunion Weekend rapidly approaching, we need to remind those that have not registered to attend yet that this is the most important of all the reunion events we have had. It has been 50 years since we received our Diploma and for many, it has been that long since we shared time with one another.
We have set aside 3 days for celebration and camaraderie with plenty to eat and a beautiful facility in which to gather.  A full weekend of reunion may be unprecedented, but we feel we all have so much to share; it simply cannot be done with the typical one evening dinner banquet alone. We have set no schedule to follow; we are merely providing the facilities and atmosphere. We have created a Welcome Center for all to congregate for fun, food, and laughter; and all are encouraged to spend your free time there with us.
The weekend will begin at noon on Friday, September 10, at the Welcome Center. Directions to the Welcome Center are provided throughout the website and were included on your invitation. We will visit with our friends in the afternoon with an on-site Hog Roast to be prepared for the dinner hour. Serving will be from 4:30 till 6:30. Entertainment, refreshments, and snacks will be available all day. For those of you that might be interested, we have a "home" football game Friday evening also. You are all invited to stay and visit as long as you want.
Saturday, all are encouraged to return to the Welcome Center for more friendly visiting. Saturday morning will begin will a golf outing at Kettenring Country Club at 9:00 am. We will have a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center Friday for those interested.
At 2:00 pm we will offer a tour of the new Elementary School recently built that replaced all the public grade schools. Again, a sign-up sheet will be provided at the Welcome Center Friday for those interested.
At 3:00 pm will be a tour of the old Skylark Club downtown. There is much memorabilia to see as well as the old dance floor still in place.
We will have a small tour bus available throughout the day both Friday and Saturday for those of you who have not been back in town for awhile. We will show the recent changes in local highways as well as the development of the city.
Saturday evening the Banquet will begin with the doors opening at 5:30. The program will begin at 6:30 SHARP. Please do not be late.  Prime Rib along with a variety of sides highlights the menu. An evening of entertainment will be provided.
Sunday morning all are invited back to the Welcome Center for a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, and eggs, as we again meet for a final farewell to all our friends.  Breakfast will be available from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The Center will be open until 4:00 pm for all to have this opportunity to bid farewell.
If you haven’t made your reservations yet, please do so ASAP. We have planned an extraordinary weekend and we would love to see you all. With this historically being the most attended reunion of classes, don’t let this one slip away too.
