Gary K. Reineke, 70, of Defiance, passed away December 11, 2015, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Gary was born June 2, 1945, in Defiance to Karl and Mildred (Rymers) Reineke. On February 25, 1967, he married Mary Kay Finn, who survives in Defiance.

Survivors also include his three children, Julie (Jim) Nunns of Westminster, Colo., Matthew (Laura) Reineke of Defiance, and Chad (Kelli) Reineke of Louisville, Ky; eight grandchildren, Evan and Aidan Nunns; Haley, Hannah, Aubrey, and Brooklyn Reineke; Owen and Rhett Reineke; and brothers, Greg (Helen) Reineke, Defiance, Roger (Marilyn) Reineke, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Doug Reineke, Defiance. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister-in-law, Cathy Reineke.

Gary was a dedicated employee of Brown's Bakery for 33 years, where he enjoyed providing quality service to his customers. Gary was even more dedicated to his family and friends. Over the years he officiated swim meets, coached baseball teams, but mostly loved being the best fan of his children and grandchildren. Gary and his wife Mary Kay enjoyed their time traveling, especially to casinos, beaches and different sporting events. Gary was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Friends may call at the Schaffer Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the Zion Lutheran Church, Defiance, on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church or to the Defiance CHP. Condolences may be left at www.schafferfh.com.

 

So glad we got to see Gary at the renunion.  Rest in peace, Gary...we'll miss you!

We were so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. I remember Gary as being a good tennis player and being on the high school team. Our sympathy goes out to you, Mary Kay and your family. Praying that God will comfort you during this difficult time.
