***I tried to reach Frank numerous times during our search for classmates before the reunion.  I was never successful and realize now it was probably because he was not well.  I had no idea he was born in Germany.  It would have been interesting to hear how he came here.  Rest in peace Frank...

I knew that Frank was born in Germany. He and his family came to Defiance as refugees. They, Frank's parents and his siblings, came first and then his Grandmother and two uncles. They lived on the corner of Moss and Sessions St. Frank's sister has a beauty shop there now I think. Ilonka, his oldest sister may be able to give other facts. I always liked Frank, he was a neighbor kid to me..sad

Thanks for your comments, Harley. I sure wish he would have shared this info with more of us. I think many of the teachers would have found this very interesting also.May God rest his soul.

I talked to Frank's widow last Tuesday at his visitation. She said his illness just came up recently and they didn't have cause of death. An autopsy was performed but the results weren't back of courese..sad

Frank was one of our St John Lutheran friends who had come from Germany. I think he learned to speak English from members of our church. I don't remember Frank  not speaking English. It just wasn't anything you paid attention to when you were a kid. We grew up row by row in the classrooom, side by side in the cafeteria  and had many a kickball game out on the playground where Frank really shined. Frank fit right in with the rest of our goofy bunch.  God Bless you, Frank.
