Wanda was a very sweet, kind person. We lived in the same neighborhood and I remember walking home with her many times. Some of my best memories are from choir and ensemble...we had so much fun at competitions even though they were nerve-racking!

I especially remember spending time at Wanda's when we first moved to Defiance.  She made Paula and I feel so welcome at Slocum School.  We had such a great time at Journalism Camp the summer before our senior year.  We thought we were so cool staying in the dorms at Ohio U.

Wanda was a best friend all through Slocum Elementary and on into high school. We were next-door neighbors for a few years, and walked the mile to Slocum and back together nearly every day. Jim and I double-dated with her and Don Wichmann (her husband-to-be) after high school - what a FUN and NICE couple!  Wanda and Don eventually moved to California, locating in the Van Nuys - Thousand Oaks area, where they managed apartment complexes.  They had two sons, Greg and Cary.  Wanda was born on Jan. 9, 1945, and died of cancer on Sept. 4, 1993.

Wanda was a good friend and she and Peg were some of the first friends Pam and I made at Slocum.  We enjoyed hanging out at her home  and later working with her on the Banner staff and attending classes at Defiance College and double dating with her and Don. I was fortunate to run into her and her boys who were back for a visit for Don's class reunion and we were able to catch up .  She was always such a sweet person
