Delphi has changed

The high school and the community have changed since we graduated.  Delphi High School now has boys and girls' soccer teams (boys won sectional in2015) and a girls softball team (the softball team has won sectionals at least a couple of times).  Kevin Stevens' 25 year old school backstroke record was finally broken in February 2009.  The wrestling team won the 2009 regionals and was the first Delphi sports team to advance to a state championship.  They had many kids compete well as individuals at state (including Missy Kipp Everett's son, Wes).  The school's Academic Decatholon teams have won state multiple times.  The boys baseball team won their first sectional lin 2007.

Quite a few of the teachers we had have passed away, including:  Mr. Alvarez, Mr. Buck, Miss Ghere, Mr. Sanders, Mr. Geheb, Mr. Wilcox.

There are only a couple teachers still there that we had.  Mr. Striebeck is now Transportation Director and Miss Lawton will be retiring at the end of the school year, 2019.

"Hillcrest Elementary"  is now called Delphi Community Elementary and houses all of the students grades 1 through 5.  Camden is now Camden Early Childhood Center and houses preschool and Kindergarten.  A new middle school was built in the 90s and is attached to the west side of the high school.  They still use the old middle school gym.  The pond around the high school library is stocked with big fish and turtles now.  It is still a tradition that seniors only are to be on the mezzanine and underclassmen attempting to cross can be thrown off.

Delphi  lost Glove Valve and recently Peters Revington but they have gained a pork processing plant called Indiana Packers.  Delphi has a new Interepretive Center which has a museum and a nice convention facility.  On the downtown square, the Preservation Society has refurbished the old Opera House that was located in the upstairs of the one of the buildings facing the courthouse.  It is something spectacular to see and has events held there all year long.  Definitely worth the tour if you get time.

If anyone can think of anything else to add, just let us know.
