ANNOUNCEMENTS

Joyce Brimus Robbins obituary - After receiving a random notice from our Machebeuf Class of '72 website, I (also randomly) googled Joyce Brimus Robbins and a link to her obituary came up.

I googled this on 1-28-16; she had just passed away on 1-13-16. Joyce has been living in Tracy, California for the past 27 years. Here is a link to the obituary:

Rest in peace, Joyce!

Mr. Paul S. Plymell passed away yesterday (September 25, 2012) in Joplin, Missouri, from significant complications from his diabetes.  Paul had slipped quickly – Peripheral neuropathy in his feet; burned feet on space heater, feet got infected/sepsis set in.  One leg and then the other had to be amputated; then a series of problems thereafter…One of his physicians described that Paul was under siege by guerrilla warfare: his body would handle one malady and then be hit by another and another until his compromised immune system simply could not cope.  Paul put up a hell of a fight and died with dignity when he could fight no more.

Happily, he had good friends who were with him through every downward step. Liz Rose and Les and Pam (his neighbors in Galena).

Gary and Paula (and me)I were fortunate to see him and talk to him over the last few days. Gary and Paula stayed on with Liz in Joplin. Paul’s family (Mom-Cordy; Sister-Claudia; brother-Vince) had visited him in the last weeks as well.  As far as I know, Paul will be cremated in Joplin and a memorial service will be held in either Joplin or Galena. His ashes will be returned to Colorado and disposed in accordance with his wishes.

Our lives are diminished when we lose friends but our lives would be so hollow without them. We are privileged to have such full lives, even with all the horse manure we have to plow through.

(thanks to George Almon for this nicely worded acknowledgement of Paul's life)

I want to thank the committe for a job well done. I am so greatful that I was able to be among so much love. It is a shame that so many people don't have the close relationship like our class does. I agree that Friday night did feel like a speed dating session...Fun, fun...I felt like a butterfly that couldn't light anywhere for long. Mary Higgins I am so happy we got to talk, I wish we could have reminised more. Beth I wish we could have sat down also. someday eh? I wish I could have conversed with eveyone. Saturday night after we got home, Patti and I sat up till 2:30 talking. That was so fun. Vince you old dog. I am so happy that we connected. I think I still have that old pair of lederhosen in my hope chest. lol Blessings to everyone. I love you all and thank you for loving me back.

Liz, please tell Paul that he is in my prayers.

I am still smiling from all the wonderful conversations I had with so many of you!  Friday night was WILD...so fun, and I eventually had to go home because I lost my voice.

Great Turnout.

Saturday night had  a more intimate feel to it, and the tables were decorated so nicely, goody bags for all, and what an impossible Trivia Contest!!  Man, and I had the valedictorian at my side (Kay) and we still couldn't get some of the answers.   I enjoyed the evening tremendously and thanks again to Schuster for the great cheerleading picture!  Oh, and sorry football team (captain Schoenecker) that Peggy G. and I didn't remember the Senior Homecoming Game score. Whow...what a slaughter!

Thank you committee members for a job well done.  Thanks to Doug Cullen for  emcee-ing and all the updates,

Till we meet again...please keep this great web page going.

Love,

Patti Poydock-deChadenedes

What a thoroughly enjoyable weekend with dear friends and rediscovered ones! There was always something very special about this class - and what a delight to find that the connections are still there. See you next time! xoxo Mary Reum Cwynar
