Daniel Love, Elkhorn, IA., formerly of Des Moines, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Creighton University Hospital in Omaha after a sudden illness. Daniel was born on April 7, 1939 in Carlisle, IA.to Charles D. and Minnie Faye Love.

Daniel served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier. Dan was a proud member of the UAW and retired from Ford Motor in Romeo, MI. after 30 years of dedicated service. Dan enjoyed his family, winning money at the casino and drinking Miller Lite, his sister’s fried chicken and especially time with his children and grandchildren.

Those left behind to cherish Daniel’s memory are his children, Suzanne (Shane) Vacek and Mitchell (Joni) Love; grandchildren, Brice Love, Remington and Skye Vacek; brother, Larry (Marge) Love; sister, Helena Russell; and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Minnie Love and his brother, Dick Love.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow the service at Scotch Ridge Cemetery, Carlisle, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
