Helen went home to Heaven on June 16, 2011, dying peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston with her family by her side. Helen was born November 16, 1939 in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. She was a loving mother of three daughters, Tamra, Lisa, and Denise.

She was employed by the Des Moines Register for several years. Helen moved to Republic, MO and worked for the Springfield News Leader before moving to Arkansas where she owned and operated Helen's Treasures. She returned to Des Moines to be near her family and enjoyed rubber stamping and crafts of all kinds. Helen will be remembered as a dear and constant friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She left memories that will be cherished forever.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Marty; parents, Bill and Shorty Haines; brother, Gary and sister, Noma.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tammy (Bill) Aldini of Des Moines, Lisa (Jerry) Paswaters of Republic, MO and Denise (Curt) Killinger of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Judy Love and Pam Jones, both of Des Moines.

A Celebration of Helen's life will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 21 at Lighthouse Community Church, 7705 Indianola Ave., Des Moines.
