Howard Douglas Swacker, 62 of East 25th Street died of complications of cancer Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Swacker had lived in Des Moines all his life. He had worked in housekeeping at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino and was an Army veteran and a member of American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and lawn care.
He is survived by two sisters, Linda Kolis of Mystic and Carole Spurling of Des Moines and I brother, Robert Jr. of Palmyra.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm today at the funeral home.
