Gary Lee Pryor

This is Anita, Gary's wife.  Gary passed away on Saturday, February 1st.  He was very healthy except for Alzheimer's Disease. In October, 2013, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the 2nd time.  I went through a very aggressive treatment phase with chemo and radiation.  After this, we noticed he was beginning to be forgetful.  In October, 2015, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the 3rd time and it was Stage IV and Metastic.  He took my diagnosis very hard and we saw another significant decline in his memory.  By August, 2018, I placed him in a memory care facility and he peacefully passed away last Saturday from Advanced Alzheimers Disease.  His wishes were to be cremated with a Celebration of Life at a later time.

He lived a wonderful life.  He was the Planning Director for Polk County at Des Moines for 13 years.  We then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, as he became the City Planning Director there.  In 1996, Gary became Director of Planning and Land Use for the County of San Diego in California.  He retired from that position in 2007, and spent two years as a consultant to Land Use Attorneys and Developers.  At that time we decided to move back to the Midwest and be closer to family.  We settled in Lincoln, Nebraska for the last 10 years.

His love for God was first in his life.  He loved his family and loved cooking and entertaining, especially in San Diego!!!   Gary had an amazing career with many awards and creative solutions to land use issues. Hobbies were many but included art and design as a licensed landscape architect.  He will be missed greatly.
