June attended Drake U. for a year and graduated from Iowa State in 1972. She married Barry OConnor in 1972 and moved to Arlington, VA, where both she and Barry (in military service) worked at the Pentagon. We moved to Ithaca, NY in 1973 where Barry entered graduate school at Cornell University. June was employed by the US Department of Agriculture at a research lab on the Cornell campus. in 1980, we moved to Ann Arbor, MI, where Barry accepted a faculty position at the University of Michigan. After 3 months there, June was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that had previously claimed her grandmother and mother. During her illness, she did some work for the UM Museum of Zoology, including preparing the manuscript for Prof. Richard Alexander's book, "The Biology of Moral Systems". She died at home in hospice care in March 1988, with old friends Paula Stewart (Wiedemeier) and Cathy Saylor (Crowley) there for her last days. We keep her in our memories.

I remember June very well.  Such a nice person and always kind to everyone.  She was always friendly to me and went out of her way to say hello.  I will remember her in my prayers.

June and Barry were two of the people in my small circle of high school friends. Both of them so clever and sweet. I was very happy that they found each other and eventually married. I will bring fond memories of her to the reunion. She is remembered, so she will be there.

What a lovely sentiment, Tom. June will always be alive in my own memory. She was one of the best friends of my life. And besides all the nice things that folks have so correctly said about her, she was also hilariously funny! I cherish the many mental pictures I still have of elementary and high school years together.

June was a wonderful person and friend.  She had the most phenomenal memory and could recall events that happened years ago, including conversations and what people were wearing.  She left too soon.

That is so right, Patty, I remember calling her a "walking almanac"!

I remember a party at her home during high school where some of us threatened to go next door to the governor's house to see if anyone was home.Ultimately I decided not to go as I didnt want to be grounded by my parents for the rest of high school.

I remember that June's Mom called her "June in January". June was one of the best friends I ever had - I will always miss her!
