Diane J. Liskiewicz of Okemos, Michigan, beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and wife passed away July 9, 2022, at the age of 80 after battling cancer.

Diane served as an educator for more than 30 years, teaching at Marquette Elementary School in Garden City, MI and working as a media specialist at Edgewood Elementary School in Okemos, MI. After her retirement, she remained dedicated to her community, volunteering at the Sparrow Hospital gift shop and keeping active with her church community, St. Martha’s Catholic Church. She loved bike riding with friends, puzzles and games, bowling, animals, traveling, springtime, well-matched and well-pressed attire, and jokes that could transcend years.

Diane was born on June 18, 1942, to parents Edmund and Viola Subjeck. She has one sister, Kathleen (Kathy) Cook, and grew up in Detroit, MI. Diane attended both Wayne State University and the University of Michigan.

Diane married Richard Liskiewicz on June 28, 1968. They started their family in Westland, MI, with two sons, Jeffrey and Scott. They since settled in Okemos, MI, where they developed a strong community of friends and fellowship through their hobbies and volunteerism. Diane loved her family and excelled at making family and friends feel special. She was kind, thoughtful, and meticulous, always noticing and appreciating the details in life.

She is survived by husband Richard of 54 years, her sister, Kathy, four nieces and one nephew. She is preceded in death by her children and parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for both Diane and her son Scott, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 1100 W. Grand River Rd., Okemos, Michigan 48864 with Father Michael Murray as Celebrant. Diane’s family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to Mass. Out of an abundance of caution, given the rise in COVID cases, masks will be provided during the services. A private committal service will be held at Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.
