In Memory

Charlene Frances Coyne (Rourk)

As per her daughter, Serene McGrath:  I would love to hear from my mom's classmates. !  I was only 21 when she passed and I didnt remember her talking about her high school years.  I am not sure if her friends knew what happened to her. Our Father, after 30 years of marriage killed her and them himself. I would love to hear stories about her from her friends. If you would pass along my email to anyone who knew her I would appreciate it. She was a gentle loving women and always had faith.

Thank you

I was one of Charlene's classmates at McKerrow Elementary, located near Collingwood & Cascade off Broadstreet in Detroit.

That was in the 5th & 6th grades...a very long time ago...(1953, 1954)..we used to occasionally walk home together down Broadstreet... We were friends...though I was more interested in her than she was in me...

So very sorry to hear about her demise...and the surrounding circumstances...

I'll miss her...

Serene, I didn't know your mother but after reading your post, I wanted to respond. I am so sorry to learn of what happened to your family. That must have been devastating to lose both parents in such a violent and shocking manner. I hope that you have been able to find some measure of peace.

Serene, I too did not know your mom.  But I so want to respond to your expression of grief. It's strange how sadness and grief pop up again and again, just when one thinks we're getting over it.  I'm sorry for your loss.  And thanks for sharing.  Gil Claey class of '60
